We can all agree that Black Friday/Cyber Monday is a TRAP, thanks to lots of media buzz this year. This weekend, instead of spending time with family and friends, it’s a hectic consumerist holiday that is destructive to the environment. Stores boast huge discounted prices on giant billboards with red writing urging consumers to buy more stuff that they don’t need.
However, I can’t deny that this weekend’s sales weren’t helpful for my Christmas shopping this year. But, instead of driving to my local mall to buy from non-sustainable brands, I prepared a thoughtful list before hand of gifts I wanted to buy for friends/family and only ordered from green companies.
Here are some of my faves: Ten Tree, Etsy, Frank and Oak, Poshmark and ThredUp.
But always remember: buy less, re-use and re-gift more, or buy second-hand!
